the various types of reactors

Reading time:

aquaray®, "small" closed vessel reactors

The aquaray® LPTS, LP, SMP, SLP, HLS products are usually positioned at the discharge of a pump. They consist of:

  • a tubular chamber with two connection flanges that are perpendicular to the chamber horizontal axis;
  • one or more lamps along with their quartz tubes, positioned parallel to the axis of the chamber;
  • a lamp operation control system;
  • an automatic quartz tube cleaning system.

These reactors have the following characteristics:

  • high flow capacity resulting from a strong intensity field and therefore small overall dimensions;
  • easy to install;
  • head losses lower than 0.5 metres.

aquaray® H2O, "medium and large" size closed vessel reactors – in-line type

These reactors are typically installed on gravity flow lines (filter outlet) or on pressurised lines (storage tank or pump discharge). These reactors consist of:

  • a tubular chamber with two connection flanges at each end;
  • one or more lamps with their quartz sleeves, positioned perpendicular to the axis of the chamber;
  • a lamp operation control system;
  • an automatic quartz sleeve cleaning system;

These reactors have the following characteristics :

  • high flow capacity resulting from a strong intensity field and therefore small overall dimensions;
  • easy to install;
  • relatively low head loss (less than 35 cm of head).

aquaray ® 40HO, 3X, HiCAP, open reactors

These reactors have been designed to process wastewater although drinking water applications can be considered for large flow rates.

These reactors consist of:

  • one or more channels;
  • several modules arranged in series and in parallel inside the channel(s); each module has an array of lamps and quartz sleeves parallel or perpendicular to the direction of the flow;
  • a lamp operation control system;
  • an automatic quartz sleeve cleaning system;
  • a chemical cleaning tank for the modules ( UWW );
  • a mechanism to automatically regulate the water level in the channel.

These reactors have the following characteristics:

  • gravity type flow;
  • easy access to lamps, quartz tubes and cleaning systems;
  • the option of removing a disinfection module without interrupting the flow;
  • low head loss (approximately 0.5 m of head).
