Boneo Phase 4 wastewater treatment plant (Australia) – reuse
In 2017, the John Holland SUEZ Beca joint venture was awarded the DBO contract for the modernization of the Boneo plant, including the construction of new infrastructure and the modernization of existing assets. The plant upgrade meets South East Water Corporation's objectives:
- to reduce emissions by 45% by 2025,
- to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
key figures
- total plant capacity 31,200 m3/day in high season
- 16,000 m3/day of treated water reused by local companies
- 30-40% reduction in the plant's dependence on grid electricity
treatment line
- CLEARgreen® Mainstream biological treatment of carbon-deficient effluent increases the nitrogen load treated by the plant while recovering more carbon to produce more green energy.
- Two Digelis® Simplex stainless steel Verinox® metal digesters.
- CLEARgreen® Sidestream provides economical and efficient treatment of ammonium-rich digestion returns.
- An advanced Dehydris® Twist dewatering unit incorporating a piston press improves sludge dewatering levels by 30% compared to existing centrifuges, eliminating the need to double the existing drying line.
