In fact, this sub-chapter only discusses «desalination» plants. Indeed, in the case of clarification membranes used at very low pressure (< 2 bar) and without a salt concentration and, therefore, without recovery problems, the only configuration used is that where all the modules are set out in parallel. The main difference then consists in whether or not a recirculation loop is included, differentiating « dead-end» from «tangential» systems as already discussed in the section membrane separation.
