With the goal to design a water treatment plant detailed knowledge of the physical-chemical characteristics of the untreated water is necessary but not sufficient. Depending on the intended use of the water (drinking or process water), some tests are often required for the purpose of selecting the process and evaluating its effectiveness. These tests must be carried out on site or shortly after sample collection.
